Surgery Day: Part 2

After waiting 6 hours! Dave was finally admitted to a room for over night care. The amount of disorganization and lying was truly amazing. He never ended up getting the 2nd nerve block. Instead he was IV'd again and given the same meds as in the ER. If he wasn't in pain relief at the time, we would have left. I dropped a few "F" Bombs and told them my colourful thoughts on the matter and left at midnight! (nearly 7 hours of frustration and incompetence-truly mind boggling stuff)
I went back this morning to see a much happier patient... So we left with new medication in hand with the promise of never to return!
24 hours have now passed and I am just starting to cool off!

Surgery Day!

Dave had his rotator cuff surgery today. All went well, it was an out patient procedure. He had a nerve block in his shoulder that was going to keep his whole arm numb for 24 hours.
Unfortunately it only lasted 7 hours. After suffering through 3-4 hours of relentless pain and some serious medication, that wasn't working. We are back at the hospital! He has been given some iv meds and is now feeling more comfortable.
They are going to re-do the nerve block and keep him monitored over night!
We'll see how tomorrow goes.

A day at the pool!

Not a great deal to report... Other than it's hot and the pool is not!

The Thornwood Thunder Swim Team

This year we have a whopping 195 swimmers!

1st Swim Meet in the bag

Last night Thornwood Thunder Swim Team hosted our first meet against Otter Cove of St.Charles.
The weather cooperated, temps in the mid to high 20s.
Hunter ended the night with 2 first place ribbons and 2 second place ribbons. His events were Freestyle Relay, Individual Backstroke, Individual Butterfly and Backstroke in the Medley event.
Shaina ended the night with 2 fourth place ribbons, 1 sixth and a 12th place ribbon.
Her events were Freestyle Relay, Individual Freestyle, Individual Backstroke and Freestyle in the Medley event.
Next Thursday is our next meet, so stay tuned for results!

Baseball Season has come to a close!

Another perfect day! Mid 30's and baseball season has ended!
The kids all had a great time and improved enormously!
Time now to focus on Swim Team, up coming camp and enjoying the summer with friends.

It's Father's Day in the USA!

Well, we couldn't have asked for a better day.
One: I got the day off. 
Two: The weather is amazing. Three: We went out for a family brunch at a local bed and breakfast.
Four: Went to the pool and wrestled the kids....we won!
Five: Dave is cooking ribs for dinner.
Six: True Blood new season is on tonight!
Wow I think I could keep going with the numbers!
Oh!
And Seven: I'm not working! Did I mention that!
Eight: kids are cleaning all the bathrooms!
Ahhh life is good...Captain Coke in hand, lying on a sun lounge in the back yard...cheers!

A Perfect Day!

Swim team is up and running, all the swimmers had a mock meet and time trials on Thursday, next week is our first official meet.
The Spring/Summer has got off to a great start, amazing warm weather and brown lawns everywhere! (those that don't own an in ground sprinkler system)... We still have quite along way to go before the end of summer, so hopefully the brown grass will prompt some home owners to buy that much needed sprinkler system!
Dave will be going under the knife on the 25th June... He has torn his rotator cuff completely off doing jui jitsu. He will be in a sling for 6 weeks, and out of action for 6 months! I will then enter rehab to recover from all the booze I will need to get through the next 6 months!!! Lol

Soccer Season is over! Brown lawns are here!

Shaina's soccer season is over until Autumn. It's too hot over the summer, so the seasons are from Spring and Autumn.
Hunter's baseball will be over on the 21st of June.
Swim Team is in full swing. We have Time Trials this Thursday, this will help determine what events to place all the 194 swimmers in for the up coming meet on the 21st.
The weather so far has been brilliant.
Dave has been extra happy, everyone's lawns are turning a lovely shade a brown which is great for the sprinkler business!
Fingers crossed that people decide to buy a Sprinkler System!

Summer has arrived!

Hello everyone!
Summer hasn't "officially" arrived. Americans like to keep things on the correct days of Solstice... But considering I'm Australian, we like to keep things simple and start everything on the first of the month!
So for me, Summer is here! Along with that comes Swim Team Season.
Today was the first day of practice, weather perfect, pool temperature just right! Our first competition is in two weeks....so stay tuned for more photos!

A short Spring and hopefully a long Summer!

We have been busy with Kyuki-do, Soccer, Baseball and Swim Team starts this week!
Last weekend was the official pool opening and the unofficial start to Summer!
We are back at the pool today to catch up with neighbours we haven't seen all winter and to celebrate the end of school and the start of summer holidays with the annual pool party!

Summer is here...and Facebook is gone!
